Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are nationally recognized units of achievement which may be used as evidence of increased capabilities for job advancement. WSU Professional Education offers a review and approval to offer CEUs for programs that meet the requirements.

CEU Eligibility

A course or workshop is eligible for CEUs if it meets the following requirements:

  • Organized program
  • Noncredit continuing education experience
  • Qualified instructors
  • Assessment (grading) of learning

One full CEU is available per 10 contact hours. CEUs are available to the tenth decimal—if your program only has 7 contact hours, we can offer 0.7 CEUs for that program if it meets the CEU requirements.

CEUs are not available for courses or workshops with less than three contact hours.

To seek approval to offer CEUs, please visit CEU Approval Petition. Each request will cost $25 for review, regardless of whether it is approved for offering.

Participants

Participants can sign up for CEUs prior to the first day of the pre-approved course or workshop by paying a small fee. After registering, the participant will be provided a form to bring to the course or workshop. This form must be signed by the program director to affirm the successful completion level has been met at the end of the course or workshop. The signed form is then returned to WSU Professional Education for documentation.

If the class is not successfully completed, the student will not be awarded CEUs and the fee will not be refunded.

CEUs do not count as credits toward earning a WSU degree. CEUs are only offered for noncredit courses and workshops.

To request a CEU transcript, please visit CEU Recording and Transcript Guidelines and select New Registration.
